Issue: June 2010 by Lynchburg Business in In the News
Lynchburg Project Lifesaver, Inc., is hosting a Second Chance Prom fundraiser to help support this life-saving program as well as other community relations programs implemented by the Lynchburg Sheriff’s Office. Project Lifesaver, Inc., is a non-profit organization that was started in April 2002 as a joint effort between the Lynchburg Sheriff’s Office, Lynchburg Police Department and the Lynchburg Life Saving Crew. It was developed to electronically track persons with Alzheimer’s, Autism, Down Syndrome and other related mental disorders who are serviced by this program. The monthly service costs to maintain each client in this program is approximately $300 per year for the transmitter, battery tester and monthly battery changes.
Since the program began, it has had 76 successful searches of Lynchburg City residents who have wandered away from their caregivers or care facility. Each of the 76 clients were found and returned safely to their home or care facility in an average time of 30 minutes.
In order to raise money for this program, a Second Chance Prom will be held at Cattle Annie’s Restaurant on Saturday, August 21, with live music provided by The Janitors. The $25 cost per person is tax deductible. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at the Lynchburg Sheriff’s Office, Cattle Annie’s at 4009 Murray Place in Lynchburg, or online at www.cattleannies.com. Each participant will receive a t-Shirt with the event name and the individual names of donors.
Lynchburg Project Lifesaver, Inc., is seeking the following assistance from local businesses and individuals:
- Donations of $500 or more will be recognized as Event Sponsors.
- Donations of $10 per advertisement—business or individual’s name on t-shirt. A donation of $200 would include the company’s logo with the name (company must provide logo electronically).
- Tax deductible gift of any amount to continue this community service program to the citizens of Lynchburg.
All donations and gifts to Lynchburg Project Lifesaver, Inc., are tax deductible and will help fund the equipment needs of this program.
