Publisher’s Letter: April 2010
Issue: April 2010 by Lynchburg Business in From the Publisher, Inside The Magazine
Here at Prototype Media, we have respect for small businesses. Not only does it take a lot of courage to embrace the entrepreneurial spirit and set out against “Corporate America,” it also takes a lot of creativity. Whether you’re starting your own clothing boutique or aspire to have the best hamburger in town, the key is to know your new business well enough to make it succeed. Know your audience, know your strengths and know the successes and failures of your competitors.
Lynchburg is fortunate enough to have some of the best small, “Mom and Pop” businesses in the region. From the success of businesses like The Spa at Sakina’s and Riverside Runners to the innovative genius of the Edison 2, it is clear that Lynchburg is full of ingenious creativity that welcomes the inception of small businesses.
We think Apple Computer summed it up well in an old, 1982 commercial when they said, “Here’s to the crazy ones…. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things…They push the human race forward…While some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
So here’s to you, small businesses. Continue changing the way Lynchburg works, lives and thrives.
Well wishes,
Prototype Media
